HEAT courses designed to match your requirements either at your offices or on our training area
Hostile environment awareness training (HEAT)
A HEAT course to prepare your team members to operate safely and effectively while working in complex or hostile environments is an important investment as well as being part of your ‘Duty of Care’. HASP Hostile Environment courses not only deliver lifesaving skills and techniques, but they also increase your team’s self-reliance. A forward thinking, well prepared team or individual results in improved confidence and a greater likelihood of success in achieving the task ahead.
At HASP our aim is provide unique solutions for our clients as we know a ‘one size fits all’ solution will not deliver the results you need. Dependent upon your needs, experience and team objectives, we are happy to run courses ranging from our comprehensive residential HEAT course for up to 30 team members or a bespoke 2-hour travel safety briefing for 20 staff at your HQ. We have various options listed below or we would be happy to design a course around your specific needs.
The HASP culture is to “Prepare, Not Scare” and our courses are run by experienced, engaging instructors who are enthusiastic about their subject. The lessons are alive with colourful anecdotes and real-life experiences and we welcome engagement and experiences from the group. A full HASP course is comprised of 35 modules from which we construct the right course for your organisation.
Details of all our courses can be found below, please feel free to contact us for more information or a quotation.

I am a humanitarian worker with a background of emergency response in countries like Haiti, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone and the Philippines. I took a HASP Hostile Environment Awareness a year into a longer stint in Afghanistan, one of the most insecure countries for aid workers at this present moment. I found the course incredibly relevant for the kind of context I work in, especially combining the security awareness and tactics of how to react in different situations with the first aid training focusing on trauma response. I now carry my emergency trauma kit in my grab bag and feel confident in how to respond in a crisis situation.
The training was quite different from the usual ‘scare tactic’ security courses and contained a lot of day to day practical suggestions drawing on a variety of different experiences. The trainers were very approachable and continue to provide support and advice when necessary. Overall, I would really recommend the course to other aid workers, chances are nothing bad will happen, but it’s good to have developed the skills to react in advance if it does.
